Lightening effects can be stunning when applied to landscaping design. There are several elements that you can apply light too and make a spectacular show. You can make a pond shimmer and a garden fountain shine. You can brighten up a statue or even increase the presence and effect of a beautiful tree. You may use garden fountain lighting both inside and outside of the objects but ensure that it is connected to a GFI for safety purposes.

When you are considering purchasing garden fountain lights it is important to first experiment by the use of either a spotlight or torchlight with an intense beam. This will allow you to see clearly the different effects that you can achieve and help you in determining what looks best. You should aim for subtle lighting effects that highlight the element that you are attempting to lift. Please avoid turning your garden fountain into a tacky amusement park setup and try to maintain some refinement in all your designs.

Garden Fountains

On the market are a variety of garden fountain lighting options. All have unique features that produce their own effects. Dependent on positioning, most landscaping designs that utilize lights require lights with dark cases. This is due to the fact that these present more subtle shades that do not stand out in the light of day. White and chromium steel cases can be too obtrusive to many designs. There are some instances where they may work however. One such example is the use of garden fountain lights which are white or even colored to add flair to sprayers. Some of these setups also include transparent rolls of many colors but these must be used sparingly as too much can be gaudy.

For some electricity savings on your garden and lighting effects you can even attain lights that contain a timer installed which allows auto turn on and turn off of the lights. This can be a lifesaver.

Installing your fountain lights in the right location

One of the first rules of thumb is never to focus the fountain lights directly on the surface of the water. This creates a distracting glare which can take away from your landscaping project. Lights which are placed inside the ponds require clean pond water as dirty water will obstruct the pathway of the light and kill the effect. If your pond or water garden contains fish make sure that they have dark areas where they can safely back away from the light and feel safe. As much as possible, when using out of the water lighting make sure that the casings and the cords are managed so that they do not present an unsightly presence. This means hiding them beneath your deck, behind stones or shrubbery. Make sure that you are considerate and use lighting effects that do not negatively impact your neighbors.

Putting in Low Power Fountain Lights

This is one of the simplest types of landscape lights to install in the garden. This is simple even for amateurs and safe as they are low voltage. They are often sold as complete kits that come with detailed instructions. The first step is the installation of the transformer which tapers the regular output from the house current to 20V from 120V. Place the transformer on the GFI slot nearest to the water feature by following the directions supplied by the manufacturer. This is to avoid shocks. The transformers are typically placed next to electric outlets and plugged in.
