Backyard Landscaping
Wherever you might be living, it does not matter, what could be better than being able to enjoy a warm and relaxing summer night in your outdoors as you see your new ideas for landscaping your backyard coming to life.
While landscaping your backyard all over again is possible, it is not possible to do it in a single growing season unless you are ready to put in back breaking labour and money into it. Even then, it will require some major planning.
However, there is a solution for this too. You can divide the backyard into sort of rooms. Now, you can remodel a room every year. If you are working on budget then this will be particularly helpful. Instead of trying to do the whole thing in one go, you will get better results, when you do it this way.

While you will be landscaping only a particular section of your yard, one at a time, you will still require a plan. Use a graph paper and draw all the structures in your yard that are permanent. Include your house, deck, out buildings as well as trees.
This is the time when you decide whether to keep any of the existing shrubs and plants.
Now, make some copies of this sketch. You can experiment with different designs and ideas from the other gardens or magazines that you might have seen. Here are a few ideas for you.
Use plants as a fence
If you do not have a fence, you can plant a row of juniper, hawthorn, arborvitae or their combination in order to create some privacy while providing backdrop for your future flowerbeds.
An island bed
As you might know from the name, this flowerbed is planted right at the centre of your yard and it is surrounded all around by grass. The bed can be of different size and shape as per your imagination as well as the available space. You can adjust plants that are tallest at the centre and the shortest at its edges.
Preplanned gardens
If you are a beginner in gardening, then things can be pretty daunting for you. I know that. Thus, if you feel too overwhelmed, you can easily select a preplanned garden for yourself. This will help you avoid all the hassle to thinking about the placement and selection of plants.

Add a water feature
Adding a water feature will always add beauty to your yard. If you have the space then you can add a pond or even a waterfall.
Get the basics right
Before you embark upon this journey, I should remind you to first educate yourself on the drainage issues as well as soil preparation. You can visit a garden centre where they will be able to advice you better.
